Telford Gardens is a rooftop property located on the Kowloon Bay MTR station in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was developed by Telford Development Limited, a joint venture between the former MTR Corporation (now reorganized as MTR Corporation), Hang Lung Properties and Hopewell Holdings. It was jointly designed by Ng Ying-cheung, P&T and Sun Hung Kai Architects, jointly constructed by Hopewell Construction and Shui On Construction, and managed by the MTR Corporation. Telford Gardens was built on newly reclaimed land. Before the early 1970s, the entire Kowloon Bay was a shipyard and ironworks area. Telford Gardens was completed and occupied in phases between 1980 and 1982. The Hong Kong government initially purchased some of the units as dormitories for firefighters and police officers. As the area is close to the former Kai Tak Airport, airlines also purchased some units as staff dormitories. Currently, most of the airline properties have been sold, but the government still retains nearly 1,000 units for use as dormitories. The development profits of Telford Gardens are shared by MTR Corporation (50%), Hopewell Holdings and Hang Lung Properties (25%). Together with the nearby Amoy Gardens, it is a popular property in Kowloon Bay and is therefore known as the "Three Treasures of Kowloon Bay". Telford Garden is located on the rooftop of the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot, close to the MTR Kowloon Bay Station. There are 41 residential buildings in the whole city, arranged in alphabetical order of the 21 English letters. Among them, only Building L has a single floor number, while the rest have two shared floor numbers. Most buildings with the same seat numbers share the same underground lobby passageway.
